In recent years, millions of dollars have been spent on developing new and better running shoes. The advances in material design have led to light weight, highly durable shoes that greatly reduce the jarring forces we all experience when engaged in sports. These new materials have let many athletes run farther, jump higher, and play longer. And now, these same high tech materials are available for use in your arena.

LIGHTFOOT is made by grinding defective athletic shoes into a specific blend so they can be mixed into your existing footing or added to new footing. Our LIGHTFOOT incorporates only the upper portion of the shoes so it is primarily fiber with some rubber and foam.

Once properly mixed in, you'll hardly be able to see LIGHTFOOT, but you will most certainly notice the impact on your footing. With its high fiber content, LIGHTFOOT adds considerable stability to your footing, thereby improving traction and minimizing cupping. These fibers also retain moisture for improved dust control and binding. While still requiring regular maintenance, most of our clients find their maintenance obligations are considerably lessened upon adding LIGHTFOOT. In addition to stability and moisture retention, the combination of fibers, rubber, and foam in our LIGHTFOOT blend also minimize concussion.

Sand is almost always the main component of any footing. And it's important to note that NOT ALL SAND IS THE SAME!!! We work very closely with sand manufacturers and suppliers who engineer specific blends for our applications so we can deliver the best footings for our clients.

Before recommending an application, we always take into consideration your riding discipline, your existing footing, your desired changes, your maintenance plan and your horses’ needs. Due to the fact that each application is unique, we have a variety of products, all with distinctive characteristics and purposes. We have been doing this for over 20 years & have several hundred satisfied customers.

We encourage you to call for references in your area or discipline.

Custom blended for F.I.C.S. from the leading international footing expert, Legacy is an exceptional arena surface that that requires no watering and minimal dragging. Available in wax coated or polymer coated.

Our Fiber Additives:

  • Increase Stability
  • Provide cushioning and shock absorption

  • Reduce joint stress
  • Are "PRE-CYCLED"
  • Extend the life of your sand by reducing pulverization of sand particles

Adding fiber to an arena cushions the footing, but more importantly, it increases stability and reduces the shearing effect straight sand can have.  Fibers by nature tend to knit together and overlay one another. In doing so, they create a "root zone" effect, thereby stabilizing your footing. Another benefit of fiber is that small dust particles get trapped within the fabric's knit, keeping it from becoming airborne in your arena.  Furthermore, the moisture retention properties of the fibers reduce the amount of watering needed.

Our footing products are used in hundreds of arenas throughout the country, ranging from small, private farms to large-scale commercial ones. They are used by beginner and intermediate riders as well as several Olympic champions. Whether you are looking for custom blended, pre-mixed footing, a premium dust-free mixture, additives to modify an existing surface, or guidance to help you avoid making costly mistakes, we have the products, experience, and dedication to answer your questions and provide recommendations.
